and many more!
Urban
CDC has a strong background in urban archaeology, completing urban and industrial archaeological projects throughout the northeast. Urban archaeology requires specialized equipment, safety procedures, and archaeological methodologies as work in urban areas often requires deep excavation, work among heavy equipment and on active construction sites, and tight flexible timelines to work in concert with other project activities.
Over CDC’s 35-year history we have developed and enhanced our procedures and methodologies to ensure excellence in our cultural resource project results as well as ensure our continued excellent safety record.
Transportation
CDC has completed cultural resources survey for a wide variety of transportation projects throughout the northeast, including airport expansions, bridge replacement, road construction and realignment, busway and subway projects, and intermodal transportation projects. These projects were sponsored by local municipalities, regional transportation planning groups, as well as state and federal agencies. Transportation projects are unique in that they are commonly long-term, multi-phase projects that often involve large project teams, opportunities for public participation, and groups of active stakeholders.
CDC excels in these group environments and in providing information on cultural resources to stakeholders and the public.
Development
Every year CDC completes numerous cultural resource surveys for all types of residential, commercial, and industrial developments throughout the northeast. The development projects CDC completes are often planned for raw, undeveloped land but can also frequently be land redevelopment projects that take place on parcels containing structures or areas with a long history of use. Raw land development and land redevelopment projects provide differing cultural resource situations, both of which, however, require strong research skills and methodological approaches.
CDC’s historians and archaeologists together form a highly coordinated team that can approach all development projects with a wholistic methodology that allows for the most efficient, flexible project outcomes.
Oil, Gas, & Coal
The Oil, Gas, & Coal industries are an important part of the economy within the northeastern United States, especially in Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, and West Virginia. CDC has a long history of service within these sectors. Resource extraction and transportation projects require a high degree of compliance knowledge and general flexibility as development of these projects must consider a wide range of concerns, resources, and regulations.
CDC’s leadership team are experts in cultural resource management and compliance regulation and our team always remains ready to flex as needed to help our clients meet their cultural resource requirements.
Municipal Infrastructure
Municipal governments work with tight budgets to complete projects that will provide benefit to the public and be assets to their communities. Cultural resource assessments or surveys are often a necessary part of infrastructure projects, as these projects are often funded with public dollars. CDC is proud that our firm has helped to support a multitude of municipal infrastructure projects over the years, helping municipal governments and communities both large and small work toward their goals.
CDC’s expertise allows our team to provide government and agency leads with comprehensive cultural resource recommendations, while our dexterity allows us to help our clients meet their project budgetary needs.
